Steakhouse Chili

Sarah's Steakhouse Chili

Ingredients
  • 1 TBS Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 2 TBS Flour
  • 1 LB Stir Fry Beef
  • 1 LB ground beef
  • 1 TBS Crushed Garlic
  • 5 TBS Chili powder
  • 16-20 oz jar of tomato sauce
  • 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 TBS hot pepper sauce
  • 1/2 Cup Beef Stock
  • 2 lg onions, diced
  • 1 lg green pepper diced
  • 1 lg red pepper diced
  • 1 can (10 3/4 oz) black beans (rinsed)
  • 1 can (10 3/4 oz) baked beans
  • 1 oz dark chocolate (chips or roughly cut)
  • 3 oz bacon cooked and chopped
more of a Guideline, really:
  1. In a large crock pot combine Tomato sauce, black beans, baked beans, garlic, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, chocolate, bacon, and 3 TBS chili powder.  Cover and set to cook on low.
  2. Brown ground beef.  Add 2 TBS Chili Powder and 1/4 cup beef stock.  Cook liquid off.  Add cooked ground beef to crock pot.
  3. Toss Stir-Fry Beef with flour and EVOO.  Brown sides (beef doesn't need to be completely cooked through, that will happen in the crock pot).  Deglaze pan with 1/4 cup beef stock.  Add beef and remaining liquid to crock pot.
  4. Put all vegetables, diced and then covered, in the fridge.  Add to crock pot one hour before you plan to serve Chili.
Makes ~16 servings.  Serve with cornbread, sour cream, and/or shredded cheese.
