Entryway: Part 3

I've always been excited about having this great entryway where I could leave my purse, mail, keys and other crap and not have to waste precious moments trying to remember where I put them down last. None of the places I have lived even had formal entryway area and so, despite being narrow, I was very excited when we bought the condo to fix it up to be my dream entryway taking this:

to this:

The rug was something I bought a while back at Wal-Mart because we kept tracking salt water across the hardwood and it was driving me crazy swiffer-mopping so much. It isn't exactly the prettiest rug but it really just is to sop up salt water, so it works. $24

the room is too narrow to find a table that would be useful, the right height, and not too expensive. I saw an idea in a magazine to install a shelf and voila! (Ikea Shelf, 2 Brackets) $40

I picked up the idea in New York to install hooks underneath the shelf just like they put under the bars. I'm sure they do it in other places but I've never noticed before :) ... 2 brackets from Home Depot $6

We got the mirror as a wedding gift from my aunt and uncle, and since I needed a mirror to check myself out before heading out the door this worked out really well as a way to display it. We also had our house calendar and a notice board to stick invitations and notices, another item from the past that I never got rid of and it happened to work. $0

I disassembled the Household Information Center and put most of the pieces into it's new home. We have a metal mailbox I've had for a couple of years and picked up at a craft store, the same wicker mail sorter and shredder. There is also a 3M clip I got god-knows-when that i attached to the incoming mail slot to be used as an outgoing mail clip. $0
Since we have several key rings (extra sets for cars and family) i stuck some 3M clips on the bottom of the shelf so we had plenty of places to put the keys. $4

The best parts were the catch-all which was an old candy dish and the hooks (leftovers items I had purchased for previous projects but hadn't used) on the wall for Bella's leashes. Now we don't have to go searching for where the leash was left by the last person who walked her. $0

This was probably my favorite project so far and the cheapest.

Margarita-ville

Timmy's Backyard Margarita

  • 2/3 cup Tequila
  • 1/3 cup triplesec
  • 1/2 can of frozen limeade concentrate
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup water
  • Crushed Ice (fill blender to half mark, add more as necessary)
Blend all ingredients in a blender until slushee-like in consistency.  You can rim the glass with salt (or sugar) and a wedge of lime.
